Heart Speakers

As a notably 'unconscious' youth, I had the typical fear of public speaking 'greater than the fear of death' type syndrome... always avoiding potential risk of humiliation in such an exposed arena. Yet I did portray a strong (although false) confidence in myself (bravado may be a better word) due to constantly changing home & school locations (military father & separated family) evoking a desperate acquired skill to 'make friends' quickly. It took quite some time to discover how un-authentic I really was.

So, it's certainly been a lengthy journey finding my way clear of all those old ways of being, plus to evolve my consciousness (an ever continuing journey of course) towards being what I consider as a some what 'activated' person. Having taught a a ski instructor as well as founding & growing a business over the last 20yrs has given quite a few opportunities to stand up in front of an audience, but only to share 'safe' & known information. It is only recently have I found it in me to actively take up any opportunities to 'expose' my thoughts & feelings publicly.

I'd say my authenticity has evolved most significantly through the experience of becoming a father... what a wild & beautiful heart opener that journey is! I cannot articulate how profoundly that experience has affected me so far, perhaps revealing just how hidden & distorted my true self really was?

I'm now looking forward to fully moving toward developing & running workshops as a facilitator, actually using my marriage celebrant qualification, as well as keen to build & create retreat centres that focus on ritual & transformative processes, as I've discovered how I greatly enjoy creating spaces for people to gather & work together in.

I've discovered through the transformative experience of attending the 'Speaking from the Heart' workshop that being deeply present & authentic to myself & my audience opens & creates a beautiful & truly satisfying means of communicate whatever I'm interested in & passionate about... & my passions are many & varied, including my profession of arboriculture (the respectful care of trees), transformative ritual (such as marriage & other rites of passage), the bridge between scientific & spiritual understandings (how they are virtually inseperably linked), masculine / feminine polarities (& dynamics), exploring psychology, philosophy & spirituality (& our psyche's relationship to reality in general), the joys of parenting... & so much more. I've moved from being intimidated by speaking to any sizable group, to being excited to share my thoughts & feelings to any size group. I am so deeply grateful to be able to call myself a 'Heart Speaker'!

Hi everyone. I'm currently a student at the University of Michigan, studying business.  I recently started my own tanning salon by the school. Lots of bumps in the road but that's to be expected. I also started a self tanning lotion blog as i'm looking into possibly getting into that business after I graduate.

Connecting with the heart is so important, yet seldom done at first.  It's how I'd like to operate in every interaction in life.  My journey in heart connection is taking me closer and closer to working with people in a heartspace every day.  This could be coaching, yoga, counselling or any technique.

I love travelling as it opens our hearts and minds to the beauty of people from all walks of life.  I have been blessed in life to have travelled to many countries and continue to be blessed to be given the opportunity to meet and make friends from around the world.

This is such a simple yet fundamentally beautiful way to connect with others.  It's so simple yet so powerful in making us realise that there is either an audience of people to connect to when you're the speaker, or that a speaker has our care an compassion directed towards him/her when we're the audience.

By practicing this we all walk away have learnt so much more than from just works alone.
